is cbd oil safe reefer madness

The hangover from the ‘reefer madness’ campaign is still noticeable in today’s world. We look at anything associated with cannabis with some degree of suspicion. But, society is changing. As we wake up from the effects of the 1930s propaganda, people are starting to realize the potential benefits of this elusive natural plant.

Standard CBD oil in the US contains less than 0.3% THC. This type of oil is sometimes known as hemp oil. It is classified by the government as hemp, not cannabis. Regardless, the fear still exists around the gentle cousin to gentle marijuana. So, to put the fears to bed, or, to expand them, let’s explore the question: ‘s CBD oil safe?’

5 Ways to die from CBD Oil

If you take any concept and throw it around in the washing machine of ideas for a while, you can make anything stick. That’s why lawyers exist in this world. They take a question and make it fit the answer, instead of getting the answer to fit the question. In this way, you can always find a danger to anything. In the case of CBD oil, let’s list some of the potential dangers:

1.) You could drop the bottle which smashes, spilling oil everywhere. You could then slip on the oil and accidentally stick your head into the toaster which electrocutes you.

2.) You could take your eye off the road if you are trying to find your bottle whilst you are driving. Then, you could drive off a cliff.

3.) You could take the bottle out in a local cafe and have the guy on the next table get paranoid about you poisoning him. He could wait for you outside and then beat you to death with a baguette from the bakery across the road.

4.) You could have a prankster friend, who fills the bottle with LSD for a joke. You could then try to kill the president and get taken out by the Secret Service.

5.) You could completely miss your mouth with the dropper and stab yourself through the eye and into the brain.

As you can see, there are lots of ways to die from using CBD. But, if you are careful, it’s not very likely at all. The main things that you need to so when purchasing CBD are:
  • Make sure the oil is very high-quality and pure

  • Always buy from a trusted source

  • Check the THC content (Not that THC can kill you either but take enough of it and you might think so)

An unregulated industry is always a lottery

Charlie considered himself an innovator and felt that the miniature cloud was certain to take off

Back in the days, when access to cannabis was a lottery, my friend and I smoked some grass from Asia. I immediately felt bad. But my friend, he instantly went blind. At first, I laughed, but then he started running around the room, panicking and knocking things over. Less than twenty seconds later he could see again. We felt at the time that something had been added. Fly-spray is a common one as it looks like THC crystals and adds an extra ‘buzz’. Such was the randomness of buying cannabis in the 1990s.

These days, I like to think, that even in places where cannabis is still illegal, those that seek it out have access to great information and resources to make the buying process much safer. A friend of mine buys weed every week. His dealer has a menu of strains that he sends through for my friend to place his order. He guarantees it is all organic. This is in a place where weed is illegal. In a place where it is legal, it is no different from buying eggs at the supermarket. This kind of approach increases your chances of getting a quality product. In turn, buying a quality product decreases your chances of getting ‘fly-spray’ weed to zero.
Probably the biggest issue that CBD users face is a relatively unregulated industry with pretty much zero established quality standards.  To avoid getting inferior products always buy from a trusted source
Still, even with high-quality cannabis, an overdose is possible. Here are some symptoms:
  • Dry mouth
  • hunger
  • Inability to talk
  • Inability to do anything except watch TV
  • Tiredness.
  • Mild but pleasant drowsiness the morning after.
People don’t die from cannabis ingestion. They get the munchies and wake up hungry. Even if they smoke too much Sativa, still they wake up the next day feeling excellent.

This applies all the more when it comes to CBD oil that is of high quality and from a trusted source. We live in a world where everything is unsubstantiated until the government approves it. So of course, you can’t say that it is safe. But if this was a fiction novel, I could write that CBD is safe.

Everything in Moderation

Of course, if you are taking various medications or treatments, you should talk to a health professional about whether it might interact. This part isn’t fiction, it is genuinely a good idea.

Even vegetables in excess can be toxic

You should remember that too much of anything isn’t good for you. If you eat too much broccoli even, your body will have some kind of reaction. Everything is useful at the right dose and, overdone, everything can be a poison. Also, people can have reactions to things. Some people are allergic to things that are considered extremely safe. So there are always exceptions.

Finally, there is the issue of liver toxicity. It’s funny because the places I have read about CBD possibly causing liver damage is in high profile magazines such as Forbes. You have to wonder what the makers of aspirin think about CBD as a dangerous competitor. I am no scientist, but I would say that liver damage comes from a buildup of toxins in the body and the excessive workload of the liver to remove these toxins.
First, consider that low-quality CBD products can have high levels of toxins and misleading labels. This is why it is important to buy pure, high-quality CBD oil and buy from a trusted source.
Next, consider that when you have a lot of tension or inflammation in your body, you create roadblocks for the oxygen to carry toxins out of the body. The toxins build up in the bloodstream like traffic jams. This is why, when you do a detox, you feel so crappy. As the inflammation reduces and the tension decreases, the traffic jams are freed. then, suddenly you have all these toxins running through your blood and your liver at once.
Finally, consider that CBD oil is an anti-inflammatory and muscle relaxant that does the same job. When the inflammation and muscle tension decreases, the toxin traffic jams are released. the result can be blood toxicity and liver toxicity. But, given that the toxin situation isn’t too heavy, this should get better. I can’t say this is true for obvious reasons. But if I was to take a guess, it’s not the CBD that is causing liver damage. it is the toxins already present in the body which are on their way out via the liver.
Prescription opioids cause more deaths than heroin in the US today

Of course, you should do your research, but in these days of information overload, it is good to know the motivation of your source. With the threat of CBD in the pharmaceutical and other industries, you have to be careful what you read. The internet has become a huge source of propaganda. A medical article shouldn’t be a marketing article but these days, it often is.

So that’s about it. Make up your mind about CBD but, consider that according to this source, aspirin use is responsible for over 3000 deaths per year. Also, the statistics around pharmaceutical drugs like Xanax make the question ‘Is CBD oil safe?’ look like a bit of a joke. See this article, on the rise of benzodiazepine related deaths in the US. Anyway. I’m glad you asked. When it comes to putting anything in your body, you should always ask a lot of questions. Especially in our world where we are encouraged to consume at will. By asking good questions you will always be in good shape to do the right thing by your body and mind.

So is CBD oil safe? It depends on the angle you come at it, but you can probably assume that by picking the best brand with the highest purity; by checking the labels and; clearing it with your doctor that you are in pretty safe hands.

  1. I would agree with you Edwin as long as one’s doctor has one’s best interests at heart!

    Thanks for being here!

  2. I liked how you approached this subject with a sense of humor. Anything can become dangerous for all sorts of reasons. In the case of CBD, consuming it clearly is not one. You did make one very important point and that is the possibility of negative interactions with other medications a patient may be taking. Consulting their doctor is indeed a very good idea. In fact I would go so far as to say, we should contact our doctor any way if we intend to take CBD Oil.

    Great article.

  3. You are right that vegetables and excess can be toxic! Especially vegetables like spinach which contain a lot of oxalates, an anti nutrient that is one of the building blocks of kidney stones.

Because you say CBD is a muscle relaxant I wonder, is it helpful if you are trying to do bodybuilding or weightlifting? Like if I took my dose of CBD in the morning and then I worked out within the next few hours would it be a detriment to my workout?
