We’ve all been there. Working out the details of your latest get rich scheme. Thinking about whether to start an affair with your crush at work. Crapping your daks (Australian for being afraid) at the thought of World War three. Whatever it is that keeps you up at night, insomnia can be more of a sledgehammer to your life than smoking twenty-three bongs a day.

 As Tyler says in Fight Club (Spoiler Alert) ‘With Insomnia, everything is a copy of a copy of a copy’. So what is CBD oil for Insomnia? How can it help? Does it even help at all?


What is sleep?

 I’m kidding. I hope you know what sleep is. Often these kinds of articles will begin with a section on what is sleep. You should know that I am not interested in word count filling nonsense like this. If you don’t know what sleep is, click here to have it explained to you by Harvard Medical.
But here, let’s get down to business. What causes insomnia and how can CBD help it?

What causes Insomnia?

A common reaction to being unable to sleep is to see it as some kind of psychological issue. Like most things I discuss here, I would like to suggest that insomnia could also be a physical issue. Sure, the experience can be related to: I am not tired or my mind won’t stop thinking. But, ultimately, these things fall within the domain of the body.

 I am always trying to get people to find a new way of relating to their bodies and mind. It is normal for people to say ‘there is something wrong with my body’ as if it is a permanent problem. Sure, some things are permanent. If you have no legs, research shows that they are probably not going to grow back in this life. Same with missing organs. But, when it comes to so-called psychological issues, it might be wise to not relate to them as something permanent, but as a temporary situation caused by some kind of imbalance. I see insomnia like that.
The body knows how to sleep. It just knows. It is extremely good at shutting down into sleep. If yours isn’t doing it, it because something is off. In my article on depression, I talk about the movement of serotonin in the body. Some sources believe that depression is due to a lack of serotonin. I think that it is more about the body’s ability to move serotonin effectively in the body.

A lot of companies online are selling melatonin supplements these days. We should understand that insomnia is not caused by our body’s inability to produce melatonin directly. If we are not producing melatonin, it is because the center of the brain where it is produced: the pineal gland is not active. Or, if it is, it is not able to transport the melatonin effectively. Pumping our bodies full of melatonin supplements can work, but for it to continue working, we need to keep taking them. So it works well for repeat sales in the supplement industry.


But what about serotonin in the sleep process?

In my other article on depression, I talk about how serotonin is a neurotransmitter that is required in all the body’s processes. I wonder if, in producing melatonin, the brain also requires serotonin in that part of the brain? If it does need it, how open are the channels that can get it there?

If the serotonin can’t get there, perhaps the pineal gland becomes inactive, in the same way that the ego becomes inactive when we take MDMA. If the serotonin is being produced but can’t get there, it’s because the channels are blocked or the organs are weak.
So, if you are following my theory here, to wake up the pineal gland and produce melatonin, we need to clear the channels between that area and the heart. We can do this by changing our diet to take in less inflammatory foods. We can do yoga, particularly inversions, that place the brain below the heart. This method uses gravity to force blood and oxygen to the brain which can unblock the channels by force. Exercise can force the channels to become unblocked by pumping the blood faster from the heart. A chi machine is also very useful in doing this as it places the heart at the same level as the head and creates movement.

CBD oil for Insomnia

Sometimes, when we feel stressed we hold tension all over our body including the head. A head massage can be good in this situation. We can also take CBD oil which is a muscle relaxant and an anti-inflammatory. When the muscles relax, the channels become unblocked. When the channels become unblocked, blood and oxygen can flow into the brain. The serotonin can move, the melatonin can move, everyone is happy.
This may seem like a simple solution and it is. We don’t have to necessarily take melatonin supplements. We certainly don’t need to take sleeping pills. If we can start a regular course of CBD oil, exercise regularly, eat a cleaner diet and do daily inversions, we might notice a surprising difference. Not only in our ability to get to sleep, but in the actual quality of our sleep.

    You’re right. Legistation is not as common as it probably should be. There is a lot of red tape in many countries.   3. I am one of those people who suffer from insomnia and has been having the symptom since my college days. Back at those time, it was worse because of all the study load. Now, it’s more of work stress and constant tiredness that is keeping me awake most of the time. 

    Using CBD oil to fix the condition has been on my mind for a while, but it’s still considered illegal in my country hence I am hesitant to try.
